


The benefit here is you are storing the files locally and don’t have to worry about connection dropouts when working on public transport etc. Instead I like to use the much-maligned OneDrive for Business sync client. Others have posted about using VS Code for this: Goodbye SharePoint Designer Hello Visual Studio Code (Mark Stokes), Visual Studio Code for O365/SharePoint Development (Jared Matfess), but I want to present a slightly different approach to mapping a network drive to the Site Assets or Style Library in your Dev site. The only painful thing is SharePoint has historically forced you to use SharePoint Designer to do this, which leaves a lot to be desired as a code editor in this day and age.

I find Visual Studio too heavy and if you want to prototype efficiently and check your progress as you go, there’s nothing like developing directly against the site. I’ve been tinkering with a new editing stack for doing AngularJS work directly in SharePoint.
